STATUTORY SURVEY

Shipping is probably one of the most regulated industries in the world. For engaging in maritime trade ships require various certificates issued on behalf of their flag state confirming their compliance with various international conventions related to safety and environment protection that the vessel is required to comply with. As provided in these conventions, most governments have delegated such certification activities to classification societies such as Class SLCS, in view of their technical expertise and international presence. Class SLCS is duly authorized by the following countries to perform surveys, audits and plan appraisals as per various international conventions, codes and national regulations and to issue certificates.

ISM CODE AUDIT

ISM CODE AUDIT

Nowadays in the world, according to statistics, more than 80% marine casualties are related to human factors. To realize the control of human factors as well as promote maritime safety and prevent marine pollution, advanced management concept shall be introduced into shipping management and an effective documented system shall be established to reinforce management responsibilities of shipping company, emphasize on risk management and system management and carry out “process control” to safety and pollution prevention actions. Thereby, International Maritime Organization (IMO) developed International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (ISM Code).

EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICE(ERS)

EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICE(ERS)

Emergency Response Service (ERS) is a consulting service. Once a ship’s owner/operator has signed ERS agreement with a classification society, and an ERS database has established containing information on stability and structural strength of the relevant ship, a permanent shore-based emergency response system of the society will be actuated quickly upon the application of the ship’s owner/operator in case of an accident, e.g., collision, grounding and oil spillage, etc. The ERS database will be accessed and damage stability, residual strength and oil spillage will be calculated and analyzed as required by the ship’s owner/operator. In this way, technical solutions are provided to the master/ ship’s owner/operator, which assist them in making the final decision to rescue the ship in distress.
